Defending champions are out to end Unai Emery's superb Villa Park run
Marc Mayo1 minute ago

A decade-long drought and defending champions Manchester City stand between Aston Villa and continuing their 100 per cent home winning record tonight.

Unai Emery's side have smashed 25 goals in six consecutive Premier League victories at Villa Park, on a run which actually extends back to February of last season to include a further seven wins.

City head to the west Midlands on Wednesday night having been held to three league draws in a row, the latest coming in controversial circumstances at home to Tottenham.

However, Pep Guardiola's side have enjoyed their trips to Villa Park in recent times - and are unbeaten against these opponents since Leandro Bacuna and Andreas Weimann were Villa's heroes in a 3-2 win in September 2013.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Aston Villa vs Man City is scheduled for a 8.15pm GMT kick-off tonight, Wednesday, December 6, 2023.

The match will take place at Villa Park in Birmingham.

Aston Villa vs Man City team news

Ollie Watkins was fit to start and score a late equaliser for Villa at Bournemouth on the weekend, after a knock.

The hosts will be without Bertrand Traore, Emi Buendia and Tyrone Mings due to injury. Boubacar Kamara is back from a ban.

Jack Grealish is suspended for this homecoming, as is Rodri for City. Mateo Kovacic should step into the midfield while Matheus Nunes and Kevin De Bruyne are unavailable.

One doubt for Guardiola is winger Jeremy Doku, who limped off against Spurs.

Aston Villa vs Man City prediction

City's lax defence up against a red-hot Villa attack should make for a highly entertaining game.

A 2-2 draw.
