A 17-year-old boy has been stabbed to death in a high street in south London.

Police were called to Sutton High Street at 7.08pm on Tuesday to reports a teenager had been stabbed.

On arrival officers found the boy suffering with stab wounds. He was treated at the scene but died as a result of his injuries.

Sutton train station was closed following the incident.

Southern posted on its website that trains were currently unable to call at the station and it was anticipated disruption would continue until the end of the day.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said enquiries were ongoing to trace the teenager’s next of kin.

They said: “No arrests have been made.

“A number of road closures have been put in place at the location, including a full closure of Sutton train station.

“An urgent investigation is under way and enquiries are ongoing.”
