We provide bilingual programming for financial health and literacy. Our Financial Opportunities Center can provide credit building information, resumé writing assistance, and assistance in applying for local social benefits programs such as CalFresh.

Casa Familiar’s Youth Center is an inclusive space for all youth in San Ysidro and we center our commitment to transborder youth, LGBTQ+, undocumented youth and the youth within the expansive Tijuana- San Ysidro border area. At the Youth Center we provide a variety of activities foryouth such as club activities, arts activities, homework assistance and community service opportunities. We have variety of clubs, such as The Skater Kids Club, The Game Club, and Mi Jardin.

  • Exhibitions – Currently on view: The 13th Annual Dia de la Mujer Exhibition. The gallery holds exhibitions all year round.

The “Andrea Skorepa Social Services Center” is where Casa Familiar first started providing services to the community back in 1973. It was later named after Casa’s former CEO of over 30 years, Andrea Skorepa. At the Social Services Center, Casa staff help clients from all over the county and beyond with applications for government benefits, legal immigration services, and more. These services are offered at a low-cost and are available by walk-in or appointment basis.

Casa Familiar also celebrates annual community events and programs such as the Día de Reyes/Three Kings Day, Día de San Ysidro/ San Ysidro Day, Thanksgiving Community Dinner/Cena de Accion de Gracias, Día de los Muertos/Day of the Dead event, and summer youth programs and free lunch and snack program.

The San Ysidro Civic Center is central to our grassroots community organizing efforts such as San Ysidro Sin Límites/Unlimited, which is a series of community organizing/advocacy workshops and presentations focused around community/economic development issues. Presentations have integrated: U.S. GSA San Ysidro Port of Entry Project, The City of San Diego – Planning Department, San Diego Housing Commission, The San Diego Mediation Center, People for Trees, SANDAG, San Diego State University, University of California San Diego, Cal State San Marcos, Woodbury University, and others. 

The San Ysidro Civic Center is activated by Promotoras or health advocates. Promotoras are the heart of health and fitness programs. These health advocates provide classes and workshops that range from nutrition to exercise, and other wellness classes free to the community. The Promotorasoffer daily exercise classes beginning at 9am, however, registration is required. Please see below for the most recent schedule of classes updated monthly.

The San Ysidro Community & Recreation Center provides several services including: citizenship classes for adults, youth services ages 6-18, connection to domestic violence resources, parent workshops, and more.

The San Ysidro Community & Recreation Center is the home-base for Casa Familiar’s San Diego Promise Neighborhood team. Under the San Diego Promise Neighborhood, Casa Familiar provides programming to increase parent engagement including Promotoras, health & education advocates, at school sites, a Resident Leadership Academy, the Neighborhood Survey and an annual Neighbor Day celebration.

The San Ysidro Community & Recreation Center will be an official ballot drop box location for the Statewide Direct General Election on November 8, 2022. The drop box will be available from Monday, October 10, 2022 through Tuesday, November 8, 2022. On Election Day, November 8, drop off will be available from 7am until 8pm.
